June marks the official start of bass fishing season in PA! If it’s no longer summer by the time you get out to fish, you are in luck, bass like to be caught most of the year!
When?
Cloudy and windy days are best to head on the water to fish for bass. They are typically more lethargic and less active on sunny and warm days, so early morning or late evening is the prime time to get a bite.

Where?
Find bass in lakes, ponds, reservoirs and rivers.
Bass tend to favor parts of the river where the water is a few feet deep and where there is cover, like rocks and weeds, to break swift current. The pool that forms just below the riffle is where bass are most active.

How?
One of the best times to get out for bass fishing comes after a long-awaited summer storm. When the weather transitions from scorching hot to a nice cool break, the bass are on the move. Moving bait and live bait, like minnows and crayfish, will get bass to strike. They’ll also go for a variety of lures.
Reel in quick retrieves and mimic live bait to lure in a bass, just be ready to set your hook as these fish react quickly.
